Live Marketing Looked At By Online Marketing Companies

By Robbie Sutter

It's apparent that marketing today can be done in a number of different ways. There are some companies that will go about buying TV time for the sake of advertising products while others may start up their own networking pages for the sake of attracting more fans. However, what about actually going to various locations in the real world for the sake of greater marketing efforts, no matter what the products at hand might be? How are online marketing companies able to assess such efforts?

This idea especially came to my attention after I saw the way that "Carrie" had been marketed. It was actually very creative, as it was able to put a coffee shop in New York City to use. A live prank was able to be played out, telekinesis seemingly coming to life in front of a group of then-terrified patrons. Not only has it been able to raise several emotions from these consumers but the truth of the matter is that the Internet made this video a viral sensation.

Take into consideration that there have been more than 25 million views, as of this article, making it one of the most successful marketing campaigns for a movie out there. I think that most people enjoy seeing an elaborate prank play out in front of them and being able to see how it was put together is something that cannot be overstated. Perhaps there is legitimate fear in that situation and individuals cannot help but to embrace it. That, to me, is the essence of horror and one that online marketing companies can claim is a viable one.

For those who believe that this is the first example of live marketing done for a movie, you would be mistaken as online marketing companies can point out other ones. The efforts that were made for the sake of "The Simpsons Movie" a number of years back showed that consumers can be attracted by advertising done on a large scale. I'm sure most people were intrigued by how Kwik-E Mart was able to take the place of 7-Eleven for a short period of time. Authorities like fishbat can support such movements.

Marketing, in my mind, is something that can be done properly with the best results coming to the forefront. Performances like the one done for the "Carrie" remake is something that cannot be overstated. It did very well in not only grasping at the fear of the patrons in the coffee shop at the time but the attention of those who cannot help but consider themselves Internet enthusiasts. This example of advertising is one that will be hard to beat, even with other movies coming about later on.
