Remember that they are reading from the script and have a set of answers they expect. So when you throw them a curve ball they do not necessarily know how to handle it, however your promising interest keeps them trying.

This whole process is about wasting as much of their time as possible. By keeping thinking that you will eventually start buying whatever they are selling then this is easy to achieve. Be genuine and at the end leave them with no sale.
