If you will dial the central number they will allow you to listen to an automated list of extension numbers and allow you to choose which number you want to be connected. But you can skip that, if you want to immediately connect to an extension by directly dialing the extension number.

Mostly, this type will need you to add a number before you place a call, in order for you to connect to an outside line.
