By Johny Jacson

If your car stops functioning in an isolated place, you would probably use your device to contact someone for help. But what if your gadget doesn't have any remaining power? In times like this, you should have a lipstick power bank with you.

Capacity of the Power Bank

Aside from the lithium-ion battery and the lithium ion polymer battery, there are 4 other types of batteries that a lipstick power bank can use.

This iPhone can be charged by a power bank that has a capacity of 1,432 mAh or more. Power banks have a capacity that range from 800 mAh to 5,600 mAh.

The power bank's capacity must be lower than the gadget's battery capacity.

This is applicable only if you're willing to wait for your gadget to be fully charged for more than 4 hours. For fast charging time, the power bank's capacity should always be higher than or equivalent to the gadget's battery capacity

Advantageous size, weight and shape

Lithium polymer and lithium ion are the two kinds of batteries that a lipstick power bank may contain. These batteries take 2-4 hours to charge a gadget and they typically cost around $100.

Lithium polymer is an expensive battery that's manufactured from aluminum. It sends 4.20-4.35 volts to fully charged devices and 2.7-3.0 volts to discharged gadgets. It typically charges only cell phones and can withstand a temperature of 0-60 degrees Fahrenheit.

The cells lessen the charging time once you connect your gadget to the power bank.

When not in use for a long time, the lithium ion battery suffers damage that's caused by aging. Lithium ion battery requires minimum maintenance. It usually charges notebook laptops, tablets, and mobile phones.

The switch at the other end of the lipstick power bank activates four LED lights. These lights detect your gadget's remaining power level.

Compatible with various gadgets

It can charge gadgets that can connect to a USB port and a mini-USB port.

Unlike other power banks, it does not roll off from an inclined table because of its square shape.

Your gadget will take 2 to 3 hours for it to be fully charged if it has over 25% remaining power. If your gadget has 10% remaining power, it will take 45 minutes for it to be fully charged. Its four LEDs will light up depending on your gadget's remaining power level. For example, if your gadget has a remaining power level of 25%, one LED will light up. Two LEDs will light up if your gadget has 50% remaining power. If your gadget has 75% remaining power, three LEDs will light up. All four LEDs will light up if your gadget is completely charged.
